2nd Annual Jim Broadwater Memorial Golf Tournament
Tuesday, September 25
8:00 a.m. Shotgun start
Oxmoor Valley Golf Course
$100 per player
-
Jim Broadwater loved golf and he loved Aldridge Gardens. Throughout his battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease - or CJD - the Gardens was the place where he frequently found peace, sitting by the lake or picnicking under the shade trees.
Before his death in 2011, Jim decided to make a donation to Aldridge for the creation of a children's nature garden. That led to plans for a wonderful Children's Water Folly to be created by Master Roycrofter Robert Taylor - a piece that will capture the spirit of Jim.
-
Once completed, the Children's Water Folly will be located behind the boat house. This photo is a model of the imaginative, interactive structure. It will be a decorative addition to the Gardens, but will also have fun and functioning water wheels, pumps and pieces that spin. Think of the game "Mousetrap," only much larger and with water! While the Children's Water Folly will be built for kids, it will appeal to the sense of whimsy in all of us.
Proceeds from the event will help build the Children's Water Folly. To register for the 2nd Annual Jim Broadwater Memorial Golf Tournament, please call Rip Weaver or Debbie Bartoletti at 205.682.8019.
