Gift shop grand opening featuring the Edith Emery-Addor birdhouse collection

Sunday, March 10, 2013
Location: Roots
Description: This spring visitors will have one more good reason to visit the Gardens - a great garden and gift shop!

Beginning March 10, Aldridge Garden and Gift Shop “Roots” will open its doors to the public. This garden and gift shop is unlike anything we've offered at the Gardens before. Follow the arbor-covered path to the indoor and outdoor display areas showcasing annuals, perennials, shrubs, pots and containers, books, home and garden accessories, gifts and more. Roots has partnered with area garden retailers Hanna’s Garden Shop and Myers Plants and Pottery, and Alabama Environmental Center will educate visitors on rain water recycling through the installation of a rain barrel. Roots managers have made a conscious effort to demonstrate the creative use of recyclables.

And to help celebrate the grand opening, more than 100 birdhouses will line the pathway to the new gift shop. The birdhouse exhibit is a collection of the late Mrs. Edith Emery-Addor, a bird enthusiast and frequent visitor to the Gardens.
