"My artwork is inspired by my life as a child of the 60’s" says Robin. "The colors and patterns of clothes from my childhood weave their way into my drawings, paintings, and clay work." According to Metz, art was a big part of her early life -- since both of her parents worked as graphic designers and illustrators. She went on to say, "After studying art, at both The University of Montevallo and Auburn University, I worked for many years as an illustrator of greeting cards, cookbooks, calendars, and advertising. I enjoyed the work but enjoyed my children more and I bowed out of the commercial art world. Soon after I began painting for galleries." She added that her "background as an illustrator and my childhood influences merged into what has become my current work. Many subjects are visited often in the artwork. Cats, fish, suns, and moons join crowned women along with my version of my daughters. These themes bring me joy."

Hear more, directly from the artist, at Aldridge Gardens on February 3rd, from 5 to 7:00 p.m.
