Nordic Walking Workshop

Location: Aldridge Gardens
Description: Beat TAX DAY Stress
Learn NORDIC WALKING
from Dr. Leroy Hurt
Associate Dean, Community Engagement, University of Alabama

Sunday, April 15th from 1 to 3 p.m.
Nordic Walking Poles will be available for use and a few will even be available to purchase.
This event is free but we do ask that you RSVP to let us know you'll be attending.

When done correctly, Nordic walking can burn up to 40 percent more calories than regular walking, reduce knee and joint stress, boost oxygen consumption (which, in turn, benefits the brain), and help realign the body after a day hunched at a desk.

Stationary Bicycle uses 30-40% of muscles involved.
Walking/Jogging uses 40-50% of muscles involved.
Nordic Pole Walking uses 90% of muscles involved. And you can do it anywhere you can walk.

We are in the process of developing a Nordic Walking Group that will meet at Aldridge Gardens once a month.
