Want a fun, family-friendly, low-cost and educational activity for the kids during spring break? Look no further than “Hooks in the Gardens.” Each year Aldridge Gardens opens up its 5-acre lake for young anglers ages 4-15 to fish to their hearts’ content. Children and grandchildren of members get in free.
This year's event will be held during spring break, March 19-23. Professional fishermen will be on hand part of each day to answer questions and provide assistance. On Friday, there will be 6-8 professional fishermen on hand to give one-on-one instruction. There will also be prizes and give-aways, including rods and reels and a free fishing day with fishing pro Lloyd Smith. Simply, pay at the gate, pick out a good spot on the lake and start fishing. The Gardens has several rods and reels for check out at no charge on a first come basis. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
