All group, homecoming, and professional photography requests need to be pre-approved by Janet Abernathy (janet.abernathy@hooveralabama.gov) and scheduled at least 10 days in advance. Due to weddings and specialty events taking place, certain dates and timeframes will be unavailable (especially Fridays and Saturdays). We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

We are looking for volunteers to help us keep the Gardens running smoothly. From the gatehouse and gift shop to gardening in the hydrangea and azalea gardens or even propagating plants, we could use your help. Learn how you can play a part and sign up online here.

Due to the high volume of social events that have rented space at Aldridge Gardens, groups of 10 or more people will need a reservation and are subject to a rental fee. All requests need to be pre-approved by Kristen Valentine (kristen.valentine@hooveralabama.gov) and scheduled 10 days in advance. Our goal is to make sure everyone has a positive experience here at the Gardens.

A collection of artist Anne Corhern's paintings will be on exhibit in our gallery through November 13th. Her works will be available for viewing Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. An artist reception is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, October 18th. An addition to the path at Aldridge Gardens, made possible through a grant from the Cawaco RC&D Council, now leads adults and children to a new imaginative play area known as Fort Aldridge. Here children can engage in unstructured free play using what they can find in nature. (We are currently working on providing new building materials for this area.) For the eleventh consecutive year, Dr. Richard Ryel and his wife Patricia are leading our guided bird watches for Aldridge Gardens members. These are generally held on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 8 - 10 a.m. Learn more about and register for our next bird walk here.

This class will show you a great way to include upper body exercise and add balance assistance while walking. Sunday, October 1st, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Led by Dr. Leroy Hurt, this class is free. But registration is required. Get the details and register here.

Did you know we have an apiary here at Aldridge Gardens? An apiary is a collection of honey bee hives, providing both pollination and honey production. Our apiary is named "Apiopolis." Find out how it got its name and learn more about it here.

Have you visited the Veterans Memorial Arbor and Pentagon Plaza at Aldridge Gardens? Our nature trail will lead you to both of these sites located at the back of our 5 acre lake. The arbor features flags from all five service branches, along with the U.S. flag, and the plaza contains bronzed busts honoring three young men from Hoover who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Our gates are normally open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., unless a special event or severe weather limits operations. Admission is free. The Gardens are closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day.
