 Gardening Enthusiasts\n9:30–11:00 p.m.\n$11 Members/$15 Non-Members\nThrou
gh trial and error over the years\, Jack and Candy Wallace have learned ho
w to build their own cold frame and have generously agreed to share their
insider’s knowledge with class members at Aldridge Gardens. A cold frame
is a transparent-roofed enclosure\, built low or into the ground used to p
rotect plants in cold weather. Using local materials that are inexpensiv
e and easy to find\, the Wallaces use their cold frame as a holding bed an
d to jump start plants 30-45 days early with this temporary “green house.”
They will explain the proper slope for drainage\, height\, angle toward
the sun\, and where to get the necessary materials so that you may build
your own before the winter cold sets in. Jack will actually demonstrate d
uring class how he builds a cold frame\, and detailed hand-outs will be di
stributed. Although kits and commercial systems are available\, come joi
n us as we learn how to make use of an inexpensive\, tried and practical i
dea of some seasoned gardeners!\n\nTHIS CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELLED.\n
