 . A meet the artist reception will be held on June 11th from 6:00 to 7:00 
 pm. This will kick off the exhibition of her work at the Eddie and Kay Ald
 ridge Arts & Historical Collections Museum. \n\nHere's a little bit of wha
 t the artist has to say about her artwork. 'In the South\, we enjoy a <i>g
 racious plenty</i>\, as you hear folks say. There are plenty of stories\, 
 plenty of legends\, plenty of moments in lives long gone. Through time\, S
 outherners have spun their lives into tall tales and songs that burst with
  the lushness of life. In my paintings\, I invite the viewer to look at th
 e details\, to pay attention to these stories and small moments. Often the
 y are familiar…things we’ve seen ourselves\, legends we’ve heard others te
 ll. They always change a bit with each retelling. These paintings are my s
 tories\, embellished in that great\, southern tradition. My hope is that t
 hey convey a sense of place...my home here in the South.' Join us on the 1
 1th to hear more\, directly from the artist. \n\nHill is a 1985 graduate o
 f the visual arts department at the Alabama School of Fine Arts\, and hold
 s a BFA in painting and sculpture from Birmingham-Southern College. Her wo
 rk will be displayed through the end of July.\n
