X-WR-CALDESC:Please join us as we welcome James Knowles to Aldridge Gardens
. Propagator level members will enjoy their monthly wine reception\, begin
ning at 5 p.m.\, while mixing and mingling with our special guest. \n\nJam
es has been painting and exhibiting art since childhood. As an educator\,
he has been teaching art and developing future artists for over 30 years.
\n\nHere's what he had to say about his work: 'The interplay between image
and abstraction in art has always fascinated me. Maybe it has something t
o do with growing up during the 70's\, but I've always loved artwork in wh
ich images dissolve and re-form\, or in which two separate images can occu
py the same space. I get to explore that realm in the paintings I've done
most recently\, using thinned acrylics and allowing them to swirl and run.
By controlling the viscosity of the paints\, and the slant of the canvas
  surface\, I can get a variety of effects.'\n\nHear more\, directly from t
 he artist\, at Aldridge Gardens on December 10th from 5 to 7 p.m. \n
