X-WR-CALDESC:Please join us as we welcome Robin Metz to Aldridge Gardens. P
ropagator level members will enjoy their monthly wine reception\, beginnin
g at 5 p.m.\, while mixing and mingling with our special guest. \n\n'My ar
twork is inspired by my life as a child of the 60’s' says Robin. 'The colo
rs and patterns of clothes from my childhood weave their way into my drawi
ngs\, paintings\, and clay work.' According to Metz\, art was a big part
of her early life -- since both of her parents worked as graphic designers
and illustrators. She went on to say\, 'After studying art\, at both The
University of Montevallo and Auburn University\, I worked for many years a
s an illustrator of greeting cards\, cookbooks\, calendars\, and advertisi
ng. I enjoyed the work but enjoyed my children more and I bowed out of the
commercial art world. Soon after I began painting for galleries.' She add
ed that her 'background as an illustrator and my childhood influences merg
ed into what has become my current work. Many subjects are visited often i
n the artwork. Cats\, fish\, suns\, and moons join crowned women along wit
h my version of my daughters. These themes bring me joy.'\n\nHear more\, d
