X-WR-CALDESC:SURPRISING HYDRANGEA VARIETIES\n\n<b>Speaker:</b>\nTeresa Bood
y\n\nWhen you think of hydrangeas\, most people think of the large and sho
wy blue\, pink or white French hydrangeas that provide so much color in la
te spring and early summer here in central Alabama. Close behind in popul
ar recognition are our native Oak Leaf Hydrangeas. Alabama’s pride is the
native Snowflake Hydrangea that was discovered and brought into the trade
by Birmingham’s own Eddie Aldridge. Surprisingly\, these are only the tip
of the iceberg when it comes to hydrangea varieties. There are many unco
mmon and overlooked hydrangea and many of them can be found here in Alabam
a and throughout our neighboring southeastern states.\n\nCome to the next
meeting to learn about these overlooked hydrangeas. You will leave knowin
g a little more about varieties such as Little Geisha\, Chattooga\, Munchk
in\, Ruby Slippers (and no\, we are not talking The Wizard of OZ!)\, Deutz
ia\, the ever strange Schizophragma and many more. This meeting is open t
o members and visitors. All are welcome.\n\nALABAMA HYDRANGEA SOCIETY\nIn
