ctor\, Rip Weaver\n\nThe program for the Alabama Hydrangea Society meeting
will be presented by Aldridge Gardens Executive Director\, Rip Weaver. Ri
p will share his observations on hydrangeas gathered from his years as a l
andscape architect and as the primary steward of Aldridge Gardens’ hydrang
ea collection. He’ll tackle questions such as “what makes a Snowflake a S
nowflake” and “what’s the difference between Snowflake vs a Gatsby Star an
d a Pee Wee vs. a Munchkin\, etc.” We’ll learn how to differentiate betwee
n the different cultivars of oakleaf hydrangeas. Rip will also tell of pos
sible future plans to develop the hillside area above the original Michael
Dirr hydrangeas. This woodland area may become a collector’s garden showc
asing the various oakleaf cultivars. Rip has also had to deal with the dev
astating armillaria root rot fungus that is killing some of the old Snowfl
