Enjoy an inspiring evening at Aldridge Gardens with well known and respected stewards of the environment where you will become eager listeners and observers of the stories our Alabama rivers have to tell. Beth Maynor Young, whose now famed photographs have come to symbolize the Cahaba River's diversity, will present her photo-essay of the native beauty and complexity of Alabama's watercourses. Nelson Brooke, Staff Black Warrior Riverkeeper and 2010 winner of the Alabama Rivers Alliance's River Hero Award, will focus on specific pollution issues in our watersheds. The $90 million per mile Northern Beltline ($4.7 billion total) and its impact on our watersheds will also be discussed. This evening seminar will appeal to a broad audience: photographers of all levels, environmentalists, conservationists, and others who simply enjoy nature and wildlife. Beth will have for purchase and signing her breathtaking portraits of our state waterways published in her recent book, Headwaters: A Journey on Alabama Rivers.
