Improve Your Garden Photography Skills and Techniques

Joe De Sciose will present slides to illustrate what elements go into making a good photograph and how you can avoid common mistakes. He will discuss basic camera equipment, lens choices, accessories, exposure methods and approaches to composition. Any type camera is welcome, but instruction will be based on 35mm cameras with changeable lenses. Basic aspects of digital photography and management of digital photos will be discussed as well. After class, we will head out to the Gardens for hands-on instruction. Bring your camera and tripod if you have one, and dress appropriately.
Joe was a Senior photographer at Southern Living Magazine for over 5 years shooting gardens, travel and lifestyle stories. He won the Garden Globe Award for “Best Photography for a Garden Book” by the Garden Writers’ Association for the Flower Gardener’s Bible. He is the photographer or two other books: the first and second edition of Garden Guide: New York City published by Norton Books and in 2011, the Year Round Vegetable Garden published by Storey Press.
