Come learn the skill of using tiles and grout to make colorful mosaic pots and garden art with broken vases or china plates. Here is your chance to put them to good use while creating a playful sample mosaic garden pot as you learn. In this workshop, you will master the basics of how to create mosaics in the pique assiette style using pieces of broken pottery, china, glass, buttons, figurines and jewelry to create a 8”x9” decorative flower pot, the ultimate in recycling. In the first 3 hour session, we will cover basic tile techniques, discuss project design and you will adhere tile to the pot.
During the second 3 hour session, you will learn to grout and finish your project. Some tiles and materials will be provided, but please bring your own broken plates, tiles, china, buttons, figurines and jewelry to personalize your piece. Thrift stores are a good place to hunt for these treasures! Bring tile nippers if you have them. Also, you are welcome to bring a mid-morning snack on Saturday.
