The Importance of Native Plants

This event was rescheduled from Saturday, March 15th to Saturday, March 29th.
Native plants play a crucial role in supporting both wildlife and human resilience. Their benefits extend far beyond providing beauty; if there are more native species in your yard, there can be more butterflies and consequently more birds. They are ideal for sustainable landscaping.
This event is free, but you will need to reserve your spot by using the "register now" button at the top of this page. The number of reservations is limited.
About the Instructor
Judith Rives started her love of native plants in 1978 when she and her husband bought their first house, on an acre and a half of wooded property in Blount County. Using wildflower books from the library, she began identifying and learning about the plants she found on their property. In 2009, she took the Master Gardener Course, and in 2011, she began the Study Of Native Plants program offered at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. She is currently Vice-President of the Jefferson County Master Gardeners.
